ANGUILLA LANDFILL TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE

 

(U.S. Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that the Anguilla Landfill will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for maintenance. The Landfill will re-open on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

CATHERINE'S REST MANHOLE OVERFLOW RECTIFIED

 

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to update the community that the overflowing of sewage through a manhole in the Catherine’s Rest area has been resolved.

Additionally, the VIWMA staff continues to work diligently to complete necessary repairs at the LBJ Pump Station in a timely manner. The Authority is expecting to initiate cleanup efforts as soon as possible.

The VIWMA would like to remind the community that it is illegal to dump trash, garbage, or debris into manholes. These actions will cause the sewage system to fail, resulting in manhole overflows.

VIWMA TEAM RESTORES SERVICE TO LBJ PUMP STATION

 

(St. Croix) USVI - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community that the LBJ Pump Station is now operational. The manhole overflows near the Christiansted Harbor, which were previously caused by mechanical issues, have been resolved, and the area has been thoroughly cleaned.

The VIWMA extends its gratitude to its Wastewater team, the Virgin Islands Fire Service, and the Department of Public Works for their dedicated efforts in restoring the station and managing cleanup operations.

VIWMA UPDATE ON ANNA'S RETREAT ONGOING REPAIRS

 

(St. Thomas, USVI) The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the public of ongoing sewer repairs to the Anna’s Retreat area. Residents and motorists are asked to avoid standing water in the affected locations.

The VIWMA is diligently working to complete the necessary repairs. We understand the inconvenience that this may cause and rely on your cooperation as we resolve the matter.

LBJ PUMP STATION TEMPORARILY OFF-LINE

 

(St. Croix) USVI - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that the LBJ Pump Station is temporarily off-line due to mechanical problems, which caused manholes near the Christiansted Harbor to overflow.

The VIWMA’s staff along with the VI Fire Service and the Department of Health is working diligently to bring the station back online and mitigate cleanup efforts as soon as possible.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid any standing water in the area. The VIWMA staff thanks the community for their patience and cooperation.
