(St. Thomas) The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority Preserving Paradise Team (VIWMA) advises the public work has started to replace a section of sewer line in Estate Ann’s Retreat. The collapsed sewer line crosses the road to The Valley and requires the contractors to excavate both lanes of traffic. Vehicles must detour around the area during the day. Road plates will be installed at the end of the day to facilitate the flow of traffic. The work began on December 10; the line replacement is expected to be completed by December 16. The road will be resurfaced following the repairs.

The section of sewer line being replaced has been in use for more than 40 years, according to the contractor. That original, decayed, clay pipe is being replaced by an SDR pipe designed specifically for sewer services.

The VIWMA Preserving Paradise Team continues to work diligently to provide the information the community needs as well as reliable solid waste and waste water services. We would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation.
