(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) is pleased to inform the community that the LBJ Pump Station, which was offline due to mechanical issues is now operational. The VIWMA extends its gratitude to its Wastewater team and contractor who worked diligently to restore essential wastewater services.

SCRAP METAL COLLECTION TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED AT ANGUILLA LANDFILL

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community and solid waste haulers that scrap metal collection at the Anguilla Landfill will be on hold effective today, January 15, 2025. This temporary halt is necessary to allow for maintenance of the scrap metal area.

The Authority will resume accepting scrap metal on Monday, January 27, 2025. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our operations.

VIWMA continues to work diligently to provide reliable services and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation during this temporary pause in service.

BARREN SPOT PUMP STATION OFF-LINE

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) informs the community that the Barren Spot Pump Station is off-line due to a force main leak in the vicinity of the La Reine traffic signal light (Centerline Road/Clifton Hill Road Intersection).

During the force main leak repairs, vehicular traffic detour will occur as follows:

1. The west bound lane will make a right hand turn to Northside Road (La Reine traffic signal light/La Reine Chicken Shack) and then make the left turn to Major General Jean Augustin Romney Memorial Drive going towards the National Guard and then make a left hand turn to Centerline Road.

2. The east bound lane will make a left hand turn before the La Reine traffic signal light to Northside Road.

Motorists are asked to slow down when travelling in the areas of the repairs.

The VIWMA staff apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the community for their patience and cooperation.

VIWMA RESTORES SERVICE TO CANCRYN PUMP STATION

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) is pleased to inform the community that the Cancryn Pump Station, which was offline due to mechanical issues is now operational. The VIWMA extends its gratitude to its Wastewater team and contractor who worked diligently to restore essential wastewater services.

The VIWMA remains dedicated to providing reliable services and appreciates the community's ongoing support and understanding. To permanently address the Cancryn Pump issue, “VIWMA has purchased three new pumps for installation at the Cancryn Pump Station,” stated Territorial Wastewater Manager, Keith Smith. The new pumps are expected to arrive in February and will enhance the station's reliability. Residents can look forward to improved performance and fewer disruptions, thanks to these upgrades. VIWMA is committed to protecting human health and the environment.
