VIWMA SCHEDULED TO PERFORM BARREN SPOT PUMP STATION REPAIRS

SSt. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that force main repairs at the Barren Spot Pump Station will take place today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The work will take place along Queen Mary Highway, near the Central High School (CHS) fence in the Kingshill area.

During the repair period, vehicular traffic, including service vehicles, will be reduced to one lane. The following traffic adjustments will be in effect:

    ·    The westbound lane will be closed from the shanty across Kingshill Lutheran Church to the entrance gate of CHS.

    ·      Flagmen will be directing traffic throughout the work zone.

    ·      Motorists are urged to slow down when approaching the area.

Pedestrian access will also be adjusted. Pedestrian traffic will be limited to the eastbound lane sidewalk on the Kingshill Lutheran Church side.

VIWMA will provide updates as repairs progress. The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as we work to maintain and improve the Territory’s wastewater infrastructure.
