VIWMA PROVIDES UPDATE ON WASTE COLLECTION EFFORTS ON ST. THOMAS
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) continues its efforts to address waste accumulation at several bin sites on St. Thomas.
Solid Waste crews have been actively working since approximately 2 a.m. today to remove accumulated waste and improve conditions at affected locations. Cleanup efforts have already taken place at Raphune Hill, with crews completing work at Havensight before moving to Solberg, Black Point, Cancryn and Caret Bay.

Crews are manually removing accumulated waste and using available equipment to reduce overflow and improve access to disposal bins. Operations are expected to continue throughout the day as crews work to make significant progress.
To further assist residents, extended operating hours at the Mandahl Convenience Center remain in effect. Residents may also use the Bovoni Landfill for household waste disposal.
Operating Hours:
Bovoni Landfill: Monday–Saturday, 6 a.m.–4 p.m.; Sunday, 6 a.m.–2 p.m.
Mandahl Convenience Center: Extended hours remain in effect. Monday–Saturday: 6 a.m.–8 p.m.; Sunday: 6 a.m.–4 p.m.
VIWMA asks residents to exercise caution around active cleanup locations, follow directions from onsite personnel, and anticipate temporary traffic or access delays while crews are working.
