(St. Thomas, USVI) – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) Preserving Paradise Team advises St. Thomas residents that effective Wednesday, October 24, 2018, the Abattoir bin site will be permanently closed. Residents are asked to utilize the Brookman or Nadir Bin sites.

The Authority would like to remind residents and businesses that only household waste is to be disposed of at the public bin sites and that illegal dumping is a crime. Persons found in violation of the Territory’s litter laws are subject to a fine of $1,000 and/or 180 days in jail.

The VIWMA Preserving Paradise team apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation.
