Fees

The fees that the VIWMA charge and collect assist with the costs associated with the daily operation of the solid waste and wastewater systems and the planned improvements for the projected growth that the systems will incur due to the related growth of the Virgin Islands. These fees are part of the revenue stream that the Authority will generate to become self-sufficient from the central government and to provide the necessary waste management services to keep our environment clean and to protect our public’s health.

Permits

Permits are issued to solid waste and wastewater haulers who use the Territory’s landfills and treatment plants. Applications can be picked up from the VI Waste Management Authority’s Office of Compliance Management And Environmental Enforcement, within the Department of Public Works on St. Thomas and St. John, and at the Authority’s west office at 941-946 Estate Williams Delight (east of Sunshine Mall).

All companies, including Government Agencies, who utilize the landfills or wastewater treatment plants for disposal are required to have a Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Permit or Septage Disposal Permit.

These permits currently expire on April 30th of each year. Effective May 15th, citations will be issued to waste haulers without a valid permit. All waste haulers’ vehicles shall display VIWMA decal to access to the landfills and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
