Clock Landfill and Transfer Station Operating Hours

The Territory’s landfills and transfer station are managed by the Authority to meet local and federal rules and regulations for compliance.

The Susannaberg Landfill on St. John was closed in the early 1990’s when an underground fire was discovered and extinguished. This facility now operates as a transfer station, as the solid waste on St. John is collected from the many disposal sites (bin sites) located strategically around the island fur use by the residents to dispose of their household waste. The waste is then taken to the Susannaberg Transfer Station, compacted and then barged to St. Thomas where it is transported to the Bovoni Landfill on the southeastern end of the island and disposed of there.

The Bovoni and Anguilla Landfills are currently manned by both the Authority’s staff and a contracted operator, A-9 Enterprises. These landfills accept not only household waste, but other types of waste.

The items that are NOT accepted at the Territory’s landfills and transfer station includes the following:
  • Appliances (unless the freon is removed)
  • Asbestos
  • Batteries
